The Electronic Age

When I was younger, I was not content to simply play with my toy telephone. No, instead I chose to sit in front of the TV with my toy telephone and speak to Cinderella while I could see her. Never did I ever think this would be our reality.

Enter 2012. And I, in Arkansas, was able to video chat with my sister, in Colorado, two of my cousins, in Michigan, and one more cousin (on another device!), in Illinois. Crazy.

While I love that we can do this now, it makes me wonder. Why is it so much better to visit in person. We may say the same things. We may sit the same way. We may not even touch much. But being together in one spot is always better than four. And I can’t tell you why, but I can tell you it’s true.

So as much as I adore this new technology which will allow my parents and siblings to see my children grow, I will still be making trips to visit them as much as I can.

On a side note, Duke has taken to following me everywhere. Office, kitchen, car, bathroom, he even sits as close to my bedroom as he can when I go in there. He either drank the dirty mop water and is sick, or he knows I’m pregnant. Somethings up.

xoxo, Mallory
