Second Trimester Recap

Well, the second trimester has come and gone, and unbelievably, we have made it to the third. I don’t know how the time went by so fast (aside from a move to a different state, living in a hotel for 10 days, dealing with lots of trips for Jonathan, a trip to Michigan for both of us, a wedding, and a baby shower) but we are in the final stretch.

We entered the second trimester a little green with morning sickness, with ruffled bed head from all the naps, and I’m happy to report it was a very smooth handful of weeks. Not too much to complain about; I felt great, and Baby grew just like he should. Looking back at these pictures, I can’t believe how tiny I was when I thought I was so big in some of those earlier weeks (and I know I’m just going to keep getting bigger – though I don’t know how).

I got back to the gym and my running shoes and I became reacquainted during the second trimester, and let me just say, I really felt great for it. Sure I get funny looks in spinning class, on the track, or in the weight room, but who can blame the people staring at the little girl with the big belly sweating her bum off? Not I. I really do think part of the reason I’ve been feeling so great this trimester – taking care of my body (and Baby’s in turn) really has help keep the cramping, stretching, aching at bay.

We have been stocking up on everything from diapers to onesies to carseats, and it doesn’t stop here. There is SO much to do in this final trimester, including but not limited to setting up the little guys nursery (and shopping for it), getting even more diapers and onesies and gear, signing up for some sort of child birthing class (and breastfeeding), and keeping healthy for the rest of this pregnancy.

Come January 2013, we will hopefully be as ready as we’ll ever be… because we’re bringing home a baby!

xoxo, Mallory

You’ll be ready just as you need to be! It will all come together!

I’m at the point (5 weeks left) where I keep thinking life is a kaleidoscope. No matter how many turns of the device, how many changes to which I need to adapt, etc. the patterns are still beautiful. I find comfort in the love that is within and surrounds me.

Yes, after a move, several job shifts, more family visits than ??, etc. I still feel that way.

One thing that has helped of late is that we have a few events right before SHE (initials and gender) is born. I look forward to volunteering at the Utah Santa Run 5 days before she is due, and I have a back up shirt in case the vol “Santa’s Helper” one doesn’t fit, too!

Good Luck! It will all be well!

5 Weeks! That seems so far away… but it’s SO close for me. Good luck to you Wendy, I’m sure you can’t wait to meet your little girl, and it sounds like she’s so lucky to have you to meet! xo

I go into my closet and think “I have nothing to wear!” too 😉 Belly bands have been awesome to avoid the high costs of maternity clothes, as are shirts one size up. Believe it or not, I haven’t bought much in the way of maternity clothes yet!
